Monday June 1st
Watch the intro video to get organized for the week and continue preparation for your Final Project. I also go over your Documentary Analysis. I will post a new lesson video on Wednesday to go over each of the options sent to you in your weekly email (Please see these posted on the English 1 page). This will allow you time to process your chosen option and the expectations to complete it.
And remember – if you turn in work after the posted due dates for any of the assignments OR you turn in any makeup work, please send me a courtesy email or text via Remind so I can ensure I update your grade as quickly as possible. If you complete the work but don’t notify me, there is no guarantee of when I will get back to check old assignments since we continue moving forward. Wednesday May 20thWatch today's lesson video to help understand characterization to complete this week's assignment in Schoology. It will also help as you are preparing for drafting your project next week (especially if you are leaning toward creating a Podcast - Option #3).
Monday May 18thThis week's intro video reviews the literary device, theme, and helps you prepare for Friday's assessment. It also reviews the upcoming Literary Final Project and this week's assignment connected to it (Step 2: Organize/Outline). I will go over Characterization in Wednesday's video.
Your assessment this week in Turnitin due Friday is a response to this prompt: What is the theme of "The Leap" by Louise Erdrich? In your topic sentence make sure and include the title, author and theme. In your response make sure you explain how the theme is developed. Give specific examples from the plot in which the author developed the theme. Wednesday May 13thWatch today's video to help you with your Schoology assignments and prepare you for Friday's Quiz.
Monday May 11th
Today's quick video is regarding posting your short stories for publication on Padlet. It is optional, and anonymous. I am hoping you choose to post and choose to read your peers' hard work and creative energy. Usually we would share in class and have an "Author Gallery" ...however this will need to suffice and serve our purpose. The Padlet link is posted below and the directions are in the video.
Monday May 4thThis week's video lesson introduces you to the Final Project and explains this week's ONE (1) assignment. Click the button below to see the samples of One-Pagers referenced in the video as "Option #1".

Tone in Night by Elie Wiesel
The video lesson on the English I page will help you determine tone and provide examples and notes to help you complete our assignments this week and next week. The video on the right is going to help you learn how to complete Peer Reviews in Turnitin.com for your assignment that is due on Thurs. Monday April 6 |
Happy Monday! I am excited for a fresh start and a new quarter. Start off with downloading the weekly module sheet by clicking the above button. Print it off if you can, and check off as you go this week. You will notice that we are transitioning to a four-day work week. Please note the schedule and expected due dates. If you are not able to log into the online textbook (see the Collections icon on the English 1 page), I have attached a PDF of the story Night (click) here for you.
SHORT STORIES: In addition to what is mentioned in the video you are responsible for providing feedback to two (2) of your peers in Turnitin.com. I will upload a video to show you how to do that tomorrow:) |
